Do you have a spare room? Would you like to have a student in your house for a period of six months to a year? Would you like the opportunity for your own children to improve their German or French?

If you answer these questions with a YES - please read here the appeal Mr Lewis launched yesterday on the esbsec-Blog:
We are looking for guest families who are willing to say “yes” to at least
the first two questions for the academic year from September 2010. The
school has started a project with a Gymnasium in Bonn, Germany, and we
would like to offer some places for some of their students in our S6.
During this year many of their students spend up to a year abroad and go
all over the world, and they are interested in coming to us as well because
of the different languages we can offer.
We would like to find about 10 guest families to start with, and in March I
will go to Bonn and will hopefully be able to tell the parents and the
students that we can offer them somewhere to stay. If this project is
successful we hope to expand it to offer students from Germany, France
and other European countries the opportunity to come here for shorter or
longer periods. We believe that having these native speakers in our school
will not only help to increase our numbers, but it will also bring
advantages for Bergen students who can use the opportunity to speak to
more native speakers at first in German, then later in French, and then
hopefully in other European languages.
We do not expect guest families to do this for nothing because it is a big
responsibility, and we have worked on a contract which has been
approved by the school in Bonn. The guest family would receive
approximately 100-125 € per week for each guest student.
If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Steve Lewis at
the school to make an appointment. His email address is

We look forward to your responses!
